The NBA Finals between Denver and Miami don’t excite you more than that? Don’t worry, Kyrie Irving is always here to entertain you. His latest nugget? He wants to see LeBron James land in Dallas to form a Big Three with him and Luka Doncic.
Rumors of a meeting between Kyrie Irving and LeBron James are not new. But it was never that way, with a potential arrival of the King in the Irving franchise instead of a new cohabitation at the Lakers.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Uncle Drew took LeBron’s temperature to test his interest in forming a potential Big Three in Dallas. According to Chris Haynes of Bleacher ReportKyrie also knocked on the door of the office of Mark Cuban (owner of the Mavs) to ask him to analyze the various possibilities in order to bring the King to Dallas.

LeBron James in…Dallas? Eh ?!?
According to Bleacher Report, the Mavericks were already willing to make an offer to try to get LBJ back during the season, when the Lakers were struggling to make the necessary adjustments to find the right path. So this news doesn’t quite come out of nowhere, but Is Kyrie aware of the different contractual situations and how the NBA works in terms of payroll?
Admittedly, Irving will be a free agent this summer and therefore can theoretically do whatever he wants. But Luka Doncic has just started his five-year, $215 million supermax deal, and LeBron James — pretty well settled in Los Angeles — is under contract with the Lakers for next season on an annual salary of $47 million, to which he must add a player option to 50 million in 2024-25.
From there, we are more in utopia than in reality.

The desire of Kyrie and LeBron to play together is undoubtedly real, and we know the affection that the King has for Doncic. The fact that James is playing the retirement card after the elimination against Denver in the Playoffs has also confused the tracks a little concerning the future of LBJ. But let’s be serious for two minutes. Seeing a Big Three Kyrie-LeBron-Luka in Dallas is probably as likely to happen as Ben Simmons putting a buzzer-beater to 3-pointers….
