La Ressource Aide-Alimentaire in Nicolet Unveils New Location and Logo

La Ressource aide alimentaire officially inaugurated its new downtown Nicolet location and new logo during an evening event on Thursday, marking three decades of community service, via905.fm reported. The organization relocated to the former Mamma mia space following the demolition of the former community center to make way for a new pavilion at Curé-Brassard school.

The organization actually moved into the new site on June 30, operating from the downtown storefront while planning its formal launch event.

Moving Out of the Demolished Community Center

The displacement of the food bank began when local authorities cleared the former Centre communautaire. That demolition made room for construction work at the nearby Curé-Brassard school. Aubi Mellein, director general of La Ressource, detailed the operational advantages of the new downtown address during interviews with via905.fm. Community volunteers from Nicobois assisted with the heavy lifting during the transition, contributing manual labor to manage the logistical hurdles of the move.

Support for the organization extends beyond physical relocation. Local entities including the Ferme Lacharité, Le Marché de Nicolet, Fromagerie Victoria, and Metro mon épicier regularly supply provisions. A recent donation drive organized by Festifeu channeled surplus foodstuffs directly into the food bank’s inventory.

Unveiling the Beet-Inspired Logo for Thirty Years of Service

Thursday evening’s celebration also served as the public debut of a redesigned corporate emblem. The updated visual identity features the organization’s name paired with a beet graphic. According to Mellein in audio recordings published by via905.fm, the root vegetable was chosen to represent humble, nourishing qualities, as it has often served to feed vulnerable people.

The gathering marked thirty years of existence for the food distribution center. Organizers stated that a series of commemorative events will unfold over the coming months to recognize three decades of local assistance.

Upcoming Solidary Gathering at Place du 21-Mars

Building on its ongoing community engagement, the organization is participating in La Nuit des sans-abri scheduled for Friday, October 16, starting at 4:30 p.m. at Place du 21-Mars in Nicolet. Held in collaboration with Point de Rue, the solidarity event features a fire, food, music, and human encounters centered around the provincial theme Rendre visible l’invisible (making the invisible visible). Youth from École secondaire Jean-Nicolet and Le Déclic – Maison Des Jeunes de Nicolet are joining the gathering to support people experiencing vulnerability and homelessness.
