The Rock en Seine festival, which takes place every year at the Domaine National de Saint-Cloud, kicked off its 20th edition with a major event: Lana Del Rey’s performance. The concert had been sold out for months, with 40,000 spectators present for the occasion. A look back at this exceptional show.
25 minutes late, but it was worth the wait, Lana Del Rey’s fans didn’t hold it against her. The singer, eagerly awaited, made her entrance on stage to a standing ovation, immediately plunging the audience into her poetic and nostalgic world. Accompanied by an enchanting decor, with flowers, a swing and projected images of iconic figures like Elvis and Marilyn Monroe. She then captivated the entire audience from the first notes of “Body Electric”.
Throughout the evening, Lana Del Rey performed her greatest hits, including “Summertime Sadness” and “Video Games,” as well as tracks from her latest album. Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd. Each song resonated with emotional intensity, revealing all the melancholy and sweetness that characterize her music. The audience, in communion with the singer, sang in unison “Young and Beautiful” making the atmosphere even more intimate, despite the immensity of the estate.
Some fans couldn’t hold back their tears, overwhelmed by the emotion of seeing their idol live. “I have chills, it’s a dream come true,” confided Célia, 21, who was attending her first Lana Del Rey concert. Like her, many others shared this moment, creating a unique atmosphere that only artists like Lana Del Rey can offer.
With this memorable opening, Rock en Seine version 2024 begins under the best auspices. The festival will continue until Sunday, welcoming other big names like LDC Soundsystem, Fred Again, Pixies and The Offspring. But for the 40,000 spectators on Wednesday night, the Lana Del Rey concert was undoubtedly the highlight of this edition.
