Land Rover Reveals Defender Alasia Pack with Copper Accents

Land Rover has expanded its European vehicle lineup with the new Alasia Pack, an optional styling and configuration package available on the Defender 90, 110, and 130 models. The release introduces distinctive copper exterior styling and a notable structural change for the Defender 90 that remains unavailable to American buyers.

Copper Accents Define the European Alasia Pack Release

The Alasia Pack draws its name from the historical moniker for Cyprus. It introduces striking copper accents across multiple exterior components. These visual touches appear on the Defender lettering, the front grille bar, the side air vents, and the rear tow hooks. Land Rover selected copper to represent both resilience and beauty, pairing the metal against dark body finishes such as the Defender 90’s Santorini Black. According to Land Rover, Cyprus Copper is the first color available under the Alasia Pack.

European customers can order the Alasia Pack now. However, Land Rover has not disclosed how much the package will cost at time of writing.

Engineering the Tailgate Deletion on the Defender 90

While the 110 and 130 models retain their standard rear configurations, the Alasia Pack makes a modification to the Defender 90. The option removes the spare tire from the tailgate. The Alasia Pack removes the rear-mounted spare tire from the Defender 90 for several reasons.

The removal alters the vehicle’s daily usability. It provides better rear visibility and easier maneuverability on tight roads and parking lots. Without that tire in place, opening the horizontally swinging rear door becomes a simpler task as well.

The tire deletion is reportedly an optional part of the Alasia Pack. Drivers who prefer redundancy on rough terrain can keep the rear-mounted spare.

Historical Lineage and Current United States Availability

The modern Defender bears little resemblance to the aluminum-framed, canvas-covered original that debuted in 1948. Queen Elizabeth II famously enjoyed driving one around royal properties, and back in 1955, an 18,000-mile expedition from London to Singapore was successfully completed by six university students in the vehicle.

American drivers experienced a brief stint with the vehicle in the 1990s before it was relaunched in 2020. Today, the U.S. lineup includes the 90, 110, 130, and the Octa. Meanwhile, European buyers retain access to additional configurations, including the Defender Hard Top and the Classic Defender, alongside this new regional Alasia Pack.
