Langau Health and Exercise Day 2026: Hiking and Cycling for Health

Eighty-five fitness enthusiasts gathered in Langau for the 2026 health and movement day, exploring local trails and historical field names by foot and bicycle as reported by meinbezirk.at.

The event, organised by the local healthy community initiative, offered participants a mix of cycling and hiking routes starting from the sports ground on the national holiday. While adult cyclists tackled an extensive 26-kilometer e-bike track, a large group of families and children engaged in a dedicated four-kilometer station route.

Historical Trails and Distance Metrics

The e-bike group covered roughly 26 kilometers, traveling across the Kohlstatt, Katzelwies, Zuliese, and Pforrabroatns toward Granitz before returning via Bockstall, Steinbruchweg, and Bricklbruck. Meanwhile, hikers maintained a brisk pace over an eight-kilometer circuit crossing the Badlichsgrund, deep Hofstatt, Bricklbruck, and Florianiberi.

Additional participants utilized the local hollow way as a shortcut toward Resel. The route continued past the pond circuit, along the Mitterbiegl and Schamsfeld, before looping back to the sports ground via Kohlstatt.

Participants Gather for Post-Event Meals

The event placed a strong emphasis on preserving the municipality’s historical field names, integrating local heritage into physical activity. Gemeinderat Anneliese Resel designed and marked all routes, besides personally laying out and accompanying the children’s circuit.

Following the physical challenges, participants gathered at the sports ground for refreshments and a communal meal. Didi and his team managed the catering, providing hospitality for the returning athletes.
