It’s already Sunday! The opportunity for LaPetitePelle to come back to what marked video games this week. Your favorite illustrator takes a look back at the storyline debate in games. So should we make the scenario totally accessible or let the player discover it and build it on his own?

Elden Ring and Horizon : Forbidden West two AAA in open world which come out a week apart. The comparison between the two apps was inevitable and the players each give their reasons why one would be better than the other. The two games are certainly different on the universe but, they differ especially on their ways of revealing the scenario to the players. On the one hand Horizon Forbidden West sets up dialogues, cinematics and a completely detailed lore. On the other, we find Elden Ring with its nebulous side and a scenario exposed in a very minimalist way. For the design of the lore and the atmosphere, Hidetaka Miyazaki notably collaborated with Georges RR Martin and yet, like a Dark Souls, each object description, each NPC reveals only a tiny fragment of the history of Elden Ring. More or less obvious? More or less jam?
