Large asteroid flies close to Earth

There will be a real spectacle at the weekend. Although asteroids occasionally fly past Earth, this one is special because of its size.

A larger asteroid is expected to come comparatively close to Earth tomorrow evening.

According to the European Space Agency Esa, the celestial body will only be about 168,000 kilometers away from our planet at its closest point. The moon is more than twice as far away from the earth.

The flyby can be observed with binoculars or a telescope. According to Esa, the asteroid should fly close to Earth around 8:50 p.m. on Saturday.

Asteroids fly past the earth from time to time. But the event on Saturday evening is rather rare. Because the recently discovered celestial body named 2023 DZ2 is about 40 to 100 meters in size. According to the US space agency Nasa, it only happens about once a decade that such a large asteroid flies close to Earth. There is no danger from the flyby.
