The Lausanne police arrested a burglar using simple but effective methods in mid-March. The man, a 50-year-old Algerian in an irregular situation, was rummaging through mailboxes in the center and north of the city in the hope of finding apartment keys left by their tenant. Afterwards, the trickster would discreetly enter the apartments and seize jewelry or small sums of money before going out, locking the door and putting the key back where it was. Neither seen nor known.

His comings and goings in several buildings ended up attracting the attention of police officers on patrol, who were able to denounce him. The investigation showed that his ride had been going on for months. A repeat offender, he was imprisoned. The police invite people who usually leave a key in their mailbox to check that they are not missing any value. If necessary, they can report to the police.
