Italian indie studio Open Lab Games (Football Drama) has unveiled their latest project, a visual novel and sports management mashup called ROLLER DRAMA, in which players lead a badass roller derby team to victory amidst societal collapse! The game will be released in early 2023 for PC, Switch, iOS und Android appear and will soon be available for Playstation 4 and 5 as well as Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One.
Roller Drama is the mashup game of your DREAMS that combines visual novel and sports management! Lead a team of roller derby athletes to victory using strategy and real-time controls to beat the competition. Outside the ring you must manage five great figures as they grapple with friendship, heartbreak and the gradual collapse of late capitalist society. Your decisions and the outcome of each game affect the ultimate destiny of the team.
“After our debut story-driven football drama, we wanted to take everything we learned and push it even further,” said Pietro Polsinelli, Lead Designer at Open Lab Games. “From the hand-drawn graphics to the daring mix of genres, Roller Drama is pretty darn ambitious and weird. We want to offer the players a sporting triumph that they won’t find anywhere else!”
Open Lab is an award-winning independent Italian studio and design office founded in 2001. After working on dozens of projects for clients, they released their first commercial title in 2019: Football Drama. the spiritual sequel, Roller Drama is currently in progress.
