In light of the developments taking place on the southern front, which are expanding day after day, the head of the Middle East Center for Studies and Public Relations, retired Brigadier General Hisham Jaber, believes that “if the truce negotiations in Gaza succeed, inevitably and within days the war will stop on the southern front, despite the threats Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant.

In an interview with “Lebanon Debate,” Jaber said: “Hezbollah confirmed from the beginning that the southern front is a supportive front, so it will automatically adhere to the truce. When Hezbollah stops firing missiles despite the continuation of the Israeli aggression, Israel will be forced to stop its aggressive operations.”

He believes that “things on the southern front are sliding day after day to the brink of the abyss, but Hezbollah is still adhering to the geographical rules of engagement, and it is escalating the quality and quantity of missiles it fires at targets within 10 kilometers only when Israel escalates its operations.”

He points out that “the Israeli enemy is carrying out all these escalatory attacks, to drag Hezbollah into bombing Haifa and the port of Haifa, and then the enemy will seize the opportunity and consider it a declaration of war, especially since Israel does not have the courage to open the southern front until now.”

He stresses that “Hezbollah cannot bear responsibility for the destruction of Lebanon, as this is a historical responsibility, so the party remains, to this moment, meticulous in any response it takes.”

He points out that “the enemy is in crisis. There is a problem of 50,000 soldiers who are on constant alert, in addition to 100,000 displaced people. This is daily exhaustion.”

Although things are heading to the brink of abyss, Brigadier General Jaber expressed his reassurance, considering that “the southern front will not open to a very large extent at the present time, but the war between the Israeli enemy and Hezbollah is undoubtedly coming, but its time has not yet come.”
