“Lebanon Debate”

The Land Association in Lebanon published on its Facebook account a scandalous video of the Pashtodar Awara and Dael quarries, which operate in broad daylight and 200 meters away from the Joz River, which is classified as a natural site protected by the Ministry of Environment. The association posted this video with the drawing of the Minister of the Environment in the interim government. Business Nasser Yassin.

“Lebanon Debate”, which constantly follows up on issues affecting the environmental reality and the encroachments taking place on natural sites, including what is classified as “environmentally sensitive,” contacted Minister Yassin, who confirmed that “upon reviewing the file, it became clear that there is no approval issued by the National Council for Quarries and Crushers.” .

He also stressed that “there is no approval issued by the Ministry of Environment, nor is there approval issued by the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities, nor even by the Ministry of Agriculture.”

He pointed out that “when he contacted the District Attorney and the Internal Security Forces, they assured him that what was happening was the transfer of an old stock, but he informed the Environmental Public Prosecutor, Judge Ghassan Bassil, to open an investigation and confirm what was happening at the site, which is considered environmentally sensitive.”

Yassin, through the Public Prosecutor, asked “the security forces to stop work in that area immediately.”
