Lee Bok-hyun, head of the Financial Supervisory Service, “Overview of the entire financial industry focused on real estate PF loans”

The Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service, Lee Bok-hyeon, said that he is conducting inspections for financial sectors where real estate PF (project financing) loans are concentrated, such as savings banks and credit finance companies.

Director Lee Bok-hyun met with reporters after the savings bank CEO meeting held at the Savings Bank Federation in Mapo-gu, Seoul today (8th) and said, “The working team asked the working team to review the overall situation of savings banks and other financial industries, real estate PF and bridge loans. requested,” he said.

“In the case of savings banks, after receiving the first report, they have requested additional inspections on key inspection items,” he said.

The proportion of real estate PF loans has increased significantly since the tightening of household loan-related regulations, but the risk of real estate-related loans, which has recently increased due to a rise in market interest rates, is increasing.

In a meeting with representatives of insurance companies and card and capital companies, President Lee emphasized the need for an inspection, worrying about the expansion of real estate PF loans.

In relation to the recent discovery of cases of misuse other than funds in a savings bank’s business mortgage loan, President Lee said that he had requested an active inspection from the savings bank’s management.

He said, “I told the management to actively check the illegal methods to avoid limit restrictions, etc.” He said.

In addition, with respect to commercial banks’ proposals to lower loan interest rates for vulnerable borrowers, it is understood that the measures alone do not mean ending the care programs for vulnerable borrowers, and they have also heard (from the bank side) that the scope of application may be broadened. He said he would keep a close eye on the bank’s movements.
