Singer and actor Lee Seung-gi has started legal action against the agency’s CEO and former and current directors who are in conflict over the settlement of digital music profits.
Lee Seung-gi’s legal representative issued a statement on the 22nd and said, “This morning, we filed a complaint with the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office against former and current directors, including CEO Kwon Jin-young of Hook Entertainment.”
The legal representative said, “Hook Entertainment hid the fact that music sales were generated from Lee Seung-gi for about 18 years after his debut and did not settle it.”
Subsequently, suspicions were raised that former and current directors of Hook Entertainment shared some of Lee Seung-gi’s model fees without permission. The legal representative said, “When we found out about this fact, we raised an objection to the agency, and on the 16th, Hook Entertainment paid about 630 million won in advertisement fees and delayed interest separately from the sound source fees.” We have sued the CEO and three former and current directors for fraud and business embezzlement.”
In addition, regarding Hook Entertainment’s filing of a lawsuit to confirm non-existence of debt after depositing about 5 billion won without prior notice, “The settlement amount unilaterally remitted by the agency is quite different from the settlement amount Lee Seung-gi is aware of,” he said. At the same time as responding to the lawsuit, we plan to file a counterclaim to claim unpaid music fee settlement and damages for illegal acts against those involved.”
