A few days later, Meili Daza Curvelo, mother of Ray de Jesús and Ronald Vega Daza and wife of Rafael Vega Cuello, who fell in the attack, filed a formal complaint with Legal Medicine for the circulation of photographs showing the procedures necropsy of their relatives.

But this Friday, the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences clarified that the images that are circulating “do not correspond to any forensic practice carried out at the entity’s facilities in Barranquilla.”

“The General Directorate, the North Regional Directorate and the Atlantic Sectional Directorate inform public opinion that contact was made with the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation to advance, in the company of the investigative entity, a meeting with the relatives of the victims,” ​​he said. the institute in a statement.

In addition, Legal Medicine stated: “After the explanation of the institutional procedures, a tour of the headquarters facilities was given, in order to carry out the respective verification by the participants. Once the visit was finished, the relatives They expressed their apologies and stated that they intended to issue a clarifying statement.

‘A lack of respect’

The local outlet Impacto News had access to an audio that apparently was sent to the sectional director of Legal Medicine in Atlántico.

“It seems to me a lack of respect, a lack of everything they have done with my family. How is it possible that you have allowed photos of my husband and my children to appear on social networks where they are doing the necropsy? I’m going to reach the final consequences. I’m leaving for the Prosecutor’s Office and the Ombudsman’s Office to file the complaint,” a woman, who identifies herself as Meili Daza Curvelo, can be heard saying in the audio.

There are already catches

Last Tuesday, July 4, the Police announced the capture of three presumed members of the ‘Los Costeños’ gang who appeared in a video in which they claimed responsibility for the massacre.

Among the detainees is Ray José Gómez Cantillo, alias El Ray, who, according to the authorities, obeys the orders of Jorge Eliécer Díaz Collazos, alias Castor, top leader of the gang ‘los Costeños’.

While the others captured in the operations were identified as Yeison Cañas Flórez, alias Galleta, and Elder Joel Daza Pérez, nicknamed ‘Bebo’.

These three people were identified after the circulation of another video on social networks and that was found on one of the cell phones of those captured.

In the material the three mentioned men appear without hoods and raising rifles and pistols.
