Under the supervision of the Attorney General’s Office, authorities of the Supreme Electoral Court, and political parties, the scrutiny is progressing in the Adolfo Pineda gymnasium, to determine how the next Legislative Assembly 2024-2027 will be formed.

Until this Friday, the TSE completed the final scrutiny of the electoral ballots that contained 3,857 packages from 10 departments, as detailed by magistrate Guillermo Wellman.

Nuevas Ideas claims to have 25 seats so far, while the PCN has achieved 2, and the PDC, 1.

The departments where the legislative scrutiny has already ended are 11: Cabañas, San Vicente, Morazán, Cuscatlán, Chalatenango, La Unión, La Paz, Sonsonate, Ahuachapán, Usulután and San Miguel.

According to the scrutiny, representative Marleni Funes, from Usulután for the FMLN; and Silvia Ostorga, from Sonsonate, for Arena, would be left out for the next period.

“At this time, 677 packages from San Miguel and 790 from Santa Ana are being processed,” Wellman confirmed. He added that they have redoubled their efforts with night work shifts to be able to complete the final scrutiny “as soon as possible” with the participation of political parties and non-governmental organizations.

It is expected that tomorrow, Friday, February 16, the departments of San Salvador and La Libertad will be counted, where the opposition hopes to obtain some seats. The electoral packages of La Libertad are 1,023 and 2,215 of San Salvador 2,215.

The Observa El Salvador 2024 consortium asked political parties and candidates to refrain from declaring themselves winners.
