The Netflix Games app on mobile is still in its infancy and many Netflix subscribers don’t even know of its existence.

Although Netflix is investing heavily in this new effort on the video game side, only a small fraction of these subscribers use the platform offered by Netflix to play. Currently, Netflix has 24 games including Stranger Things: 1984, Moonlighter, and Into the Breach. The company, however, plans to double its catalog by the end of 2022.

To do this, Netflix has acquired several development studios like Night School and Next Games. In all, it’s about 72 million dollars that Netflix has spent on this new project. All this budget is spent in the creation of the application, the acquisition of the rights of certain games already available elsewhere, the marketing and the acquisition of new studios to create innovations internally.

A very low percentage

The Netflix Games app has been downloaded around 23 million times around the world and has around 1.7 million users per day. It may seem huge, but for Netflix, it represents less than 1% of its total subscribers. The streaming giant has 221 million subscribers, which is huge! However, the number of people who have downloaded the Netflix Games application has been slowly but surely increasing since its release. Netflix is still in the marketing process to raise awareness of the new service.

Netflix Games can be downloaded from the Netflix mobile app at no additional cost to streaming service subscribers.
