The head of SYRIZA, Stefanos Kasselakis, met with the president of the Personal Data Protection Authority, Konstantinos Menudakos. At the heart of the meeting was the leakage of personal data of foreign voters to the ND party and the case of wiretapping.
“There should be a thorough investigation at the Ministry of the Interior. It’s a matter of democracy and, as always, we are in favor of institutional shielding”, stressed, among others, the president of SYRIZA, Stefanos Kasselakis, after the meeting he had with the head of the Personal Data Protection Authority, Konstantinos Menudakos.
In his statements after the meeting, Stefanos Kasselakis, after thanking the President of the Authority for the “exceptional meeting”, emphasized:
“We asked for information on two important issues. The first is about the illegal malware, Predator. The 93 targets which they handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office and we are still waiting, after many months, for some answer, if they coincide with the wiretapping by the EYP and Megaros Maximos”.
Regarding the second issue, the president of SYRIZA added: “We discussed the leakage of confidential personal data for voters abroad. From what we understand there is a thorough investigation going on. We asked for abundant light to be shed. Expand the investigation into possible other leaks from the same centers within the Ministry of the Interior, because we now have the confession from the government representative, as well as from Ms. Asimakopoulou, that this data was at their disposal for party purposes after the official resignation government, for 7 months, until January 2024. So we need to know this data, of voters abroad, who leaked it and where else it has leaked. A thorough investigation should be carried out at the Ministry of the Interior. It is a matter of democracy and, as always, we are in favor of institutional shielding.”
Stefanos Kasselakis was accompanied by the President of the KO of SYRIZA, Sokratis Famellos and the director of his Political Office, Manolis Kapnisakis.
