A Resetera user reports an email in which Sony describes the possibility of upgrading from an existing PS Plus membership to a higher tier once the three-tier model has been unlocked.
Sony last week revealed the launch dates for the three-tiered PlayStation Plus program. The extended service will start at different times in each region.
However, some details are still open. For example, Sony hasn’t released any information about what the process will be for users who want to upgrade from a lower tier of the subscription service to a higher one.
The switch shouldn’t be too complicated, as Sony reports communicated in an email. According to this, subscribers should be able to “switch to a higher service plan at any time without any problems”. In this case, of course, you will have to pay the difference between the two tariffs, which will be adjusted for the remaining term of your membership.
New PS Plus model in Europe from June
In the course of announcing the three-stage PlayStation Plus program, Sony emphasized that the new service would not be launched in all regions at the same time. Rather, there is a staggering in which the Europeans are at the bottom.
First up are Asian markets on May 23, 2022, with the exception of Japan, which will join on June 1, 2022. Players in North, Central and South America are expected to be able to choose one of the three PS Plus tiers starting June 13, 2022. Europeans will be served on June 22, 2022 if all goes according to plan.
The prices of the individual levels are also known. The cheapest level called “Essential” will cost like the previous PS Plus 8.99 euros a month, 24.99 euros quarterly and 59.99 euros a year. The content corresponds to the well-known PS Plus offer.
If you want something more, go to the “Extra” level. Here it is 13.99 euros per month, 39.99 euros quarterly and 99.99 euros per year. In addition to the content of “Essential”, this package includes a software library of around 400 titles, which you can use at no additional cost.
“Premium”, as the most expensive level is called, can be subscribed to for EUR 16.99 per month, EUR 49.99 for a quarter and EUR 119.99 for a full year. The Premium package provides access to all components of the previous tiers. There are also more than 300 PlayStation classics waiting for you. They can be streamed once and installed once depending on the original platform of the classics.
