“Cohesion is the basis of living together in our livable and lovable country”
St. Pölten (OTS/NLK) – “The great international tensions, the economic challenges and the brutalization in dealing with each other have caused us great concern in 2023,” said State Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner in her New Year’s speech, looking back on what has just ended year and meant the war in Ukraine, the terror of Hamas and the flare-up of anti-Semitic incidents. She has the impression that the amount of negative news is increasingly obscuring the view of the positive. “Hardly anyone dares to say how well we are doing and how good it is to be at home in Lower Austria in view of the global challenge.” She remembers the many clubs and volunteers who ensure this unique cohesion in Lower Austria the families and children for whom childcare options are currently being massively expanded. She also thinks of the many innovative companies, with their hard-working employees or of the farmers. “Let us remember that we in this country take better care of our sick, elderly and dependent compatriots than many other regions on this continent. And let us remember that the generations before us have already faced great challenges,” she added.
“We in Lower Austria in particular know best that commitment and cohesion in our community is the basis of coexistence in our livable and lovable country. What sets us apart from Lower Austrians is that we extend a hand to everyone who wants to shape a good future with reason and common sense. And that – even if there may be different opinions – we talk to each other respectfully and come to a result that everyone can stand behind.” Lower Austria is characterized by a “positive, lively community” in which people approach each other. In Lower Austria, the focus is on important issues such as good work, a strong economy and a secure quality of life so that things can continue to move forward. With this in mind, she wishes to “tackle the new year together with confidence and self-confidence,” the state governor concluded.
