Li Tie’s 45th Birthday FIFA Sending Wishes: Happy Birthday to Iron Man, Tie Waist and Tie Shuai

May 18 is the 45th birthday of former Chinese men’s football coach Li Tie, and FIFA sent him birthday wishes on its official Weibo post.

FIFA wrote on its official Weibo account: “The perseverance of not admitting defeat, and the spirit of running to death. He is an iron man, iron waist, and iron handsome. Happy birthday to Li Tie.”

The 45-year-old Li Tie played for Liaoning Hongyuan, Premier League Everton, Chengdu Sheffield United and other clubs successively as a player, and participated in the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup with the national football team. After retiring, Li Tie started his coaching career. He successively served as the assistant coach of the Guangzhou team and the national football team, and the head coach of the Hebei team and Wuhan Yangtze River.

During the period of coaching the national football team, Li Tie once led the national football team to achieve a 4-game winning streak in the top 40 games. The Football Association also signed a 5-year contract extension with Li Tie after advancing to the top 12 games. However, the national football team’s game record after entering the top 12 was not satisfactory. In the first six rounds, it achieved 1 win, 2 draws and 3 losses, and was then forced to be dismissed because of the remarks at the post-match press conference.
