Liberty Men’s Tennis Shines at Georgia Tech Invite with Five Victories

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Liberty men’s tennis was victorious in five of nine matches at the Georgia Tech Invite on Friday. All matches were held at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex. The Flames are one of seven teams competing at the event.

Liberty posted a 2-1 doubles record to start the day and a 3-3 singles record to conclude play.

The Flames played all its doubles matches against Georgia. Chase Robinson and Lusi Felipe Miguel bested Thomas Paulsell and Parker Jacques 8-4. Liberty’s pair of Matija Samardzic and Ernst Gouws toppled Davis Taylor and Parker Mariencheck 8-1.

Liberty was triumphant in two singles matches over Georgia Tech, took one of two singles matches against Alabama, but fell in both matches to New Mexico. Robinson was 2-0 on the day with a 6-3, 7-5 defeat of Rohan Sachdev. Gouws topped Georgia Tech’s Owen DeMuth, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5). Facing Alabama’s Yair Sarouk, Liberty’s Longwe-Smit was victorious, 6-3, 6-1.

Robinson, 2-0 on Friday, improved his record to 7-1 in the fall season. A redshirt freshman, Robinson is playing in his first collegiate fall season.
Gouws, joins Robinson as the only two Flames to enjoy a 2-0 day.
