Lidl wants to simplify the appearance of its Belgian stores. They are going to modify 310 branches in the country in order to have almost identical stores. The objective is to increase visibility with customers, but also the efficiency of staff. The German supermarket chain said in a response to the newspaper The last news that she wanted a “simplification” of the Lidl branches in our country. According to the specialized media, the chain is therefore opting for a simpler and more “hard discount” model with explicit promotions and more automatic checkouts.

“The goal is for customers to recognize a Lidl when they enter,” says Isabelle Colbrandt, spokesperson for Lidl Belgium.

The operation is also expected to increase staff efficiency. “Right now there are many variations between our branches, which means there are many different operational tasks per store. By switching to a clear store concept for all stores in terms of logistics, transport, deliveries, it will also be easier and more efficient for our staff.”
