LINAGORA is publishing this week a plea of more than 100 pages for free software in the search for digital sovereignty. The document brings together all the arguments and factual elements. Here’s a preview.

The company has defended it since its beginnings and does not budge: Free and Open Source Software is a pillar for develop digital sovereignty. An awareness campaign is underway to urgently develop arguments in favor of a third digital way in Europe.

Linagora therefore publishes a plea (and a white paper) of more than 100 pages bringing together the main advantages of free software in this strategic and industrial fight.

Free software is a vector of positive externalities. An accelerator of innovation thanks to cooperative logic via the pooling of resources in the forges. A source of user autonomy. A response to foreign technological and economic dependence, but also to data protection issues.

Reduced costs. The reduction in costs is notably linked to theobtaining licenses, mostly free. Once free software is acquired, its main advantage lies in its ability to be copied infinitely, particularly cost-effective when it must be installed on a large scale. A alternative to build a sovereign infratech : free software ensures more direct control over strategic technological infrastructures by granting more technological independence from publishers.
