HOBBIES. Cultural and community life of Granby, the City of Granby as well as the Young Ambassadors of Granby (JAG) invite people to participate in the activities carried out by the young people of Granby this fall. On the menu: a Halloween party for 12 to 17 year olds and a second edition of the Video Game Fair for the entire population.r
On Saturday, October 28, from 7 p.m., young people aged 12 to 17 are invited to an evening filled with mysteries and breathtaking costumes! JAG has spooky surprises in store for them, a mesmerizing dance floor and delicious treats. It’s also the perfect opportunity to show off your sewing skills and your creative side, since there will be a costume competition with a photobooth.
The monstrous party will take place at l’Escale, at 80 rue Albert, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. ID will be required upon entry: only people aged 12 to 17 will be admitted. Free entry.
Video game fair
Video game enthusiasts of all ages are invited, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on November 4, to the second edition of the Video Game Fair! The event will be held, again this year, at the Notre-Dame center (270, rue Principale). Entrance and all activities will be free. It will be possible to buy candy, popcorn and other ($).
Areas for playing various games will be offered: retro, modern and virtual reality. There will also be speedrunning demonstrations (the art of completing a video game as quickly as possible) by professionals. Also, tournaments will be offered with the games Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
“I am very happy that the JAG is offering, again this year, these two activities which were very appreciated by the young people last year. The Halloween party is an opportunity for young people aged 12 to 17 to come together in an event 100% designed with and for them. Also, the Video Game Fair is a unique unifying event of its kind,” mentioned Mélody Poulin, Head of Social Development at Vie culturelle et Communauté de Granby.
