The ones from the band Sister Sin well-known singer Life Jagrell delivers us at the beginning of the year with her band, which was founded in 2016 Life His a strong new album called Kaliyuga. The title refers to the fourth of the four Yugas in Hinduism, which represents the present with all its conflicts and sins.
The result is a real modern metal highlight, which somehow still breathes the soul of classic heavy metal, no wonder that the part was also used by scene greats like Simon Johansson, Wolf and Mike Wead, King Diamond/Mercyful Fate, recorded to then by Tue Madsen to get a fat modern sound.

Modern energy and powerful vocals

The Process blasts right in, with fat modern riffs and Life incomparable tube, which also occasionally drifts into growls. A strong opener with cool guitar solos, to which you can swing the mat well.
Starts with synth parts reminiscent of computer games Antihero. The song moves forward well and the chorus is cool too, only the lyrics are maybe a bit dull here, especially this one “Boom Boom” Part, which could probably be a plus point in the live situation and will be well suited as a shout-along part. All in all, the song grabs you with its riffs and solos, and Life strong vocal performance. Convince yourself, go to the video HERE.

Great refrains, great guitars and a lot of variety

King of Fools is a nice snotty hard rocker that fits perfectly with the front woman’s horny, grating voice. With its catchy chorus, this song has everything a hit needs.
Soft piano sounds guide Forget My Name one, before stomping riffing, which reminds a bit of Rammstein, hits you right in the face. The chorus grinds straight into the convolutions of the brain, and Jay Matharus Solo work is top notch again. Show the soft vocal parts in the middle part Liv sometimes from her fragile side, which forms an interesting contrast to her skirt.

Karma starts with great twin guitars and then bangs forward really nice Thrashy, and the vocals are aggressive and intoxicating. The keyboard parts remind me a little bit at times Machine Supremacy, which I like very much. Again this song features a creamy chorus and exquisite solo, another hit!

The hit machine

I am the Storm starts out like a 1980s sci-fi action movie a la Terminator, before the sawing riffs kick in. After that it shows Liv in a relaxed acoustic part from their soft side with a really great vocal performance, before the hammer is brought out again and their vocals together with the guitars gain a lot of heaviness again and don’t shy away from growls either. What a great varied song! The video is there HERE.
Virus is similarly multifaceted, hard metal parts with rough vocals alternate with soulful acoustic passages and a soft voice, great!

D.E.R. takes place mainly in the mid-tempo, but offers additional male guest vocals, which engage with Liv alternate. It’s amazing how many great choruses there are on this album and this song is no different and sticks in your head long after the last note has died down.

Full energy level until the last note

on The Swarm the drums first fight a duel with the keyboards, only to really step on the gas with rattling double bass and catchy riffs. Gang shouts alternate with Life powerful organ, and no prisoners are taken here in the chorus either.

with Horizon In Black At the end there is another real anthem: the melody alone at the beginning grabs you directly, the drums thunder really nicely in the convolutions of the brain, but the powerful voice of a woman Jagrell is simply the crowning glory. Really an energetic song with sing-along potential, which will definitely become an absolute highlight live!

Conclusion
with Kaliyuga hit us Life His A powerful modern metal album that convinces with powerful vocals, first-class refrains, great solos, incredible energy and a fat production throughout. A first highlight of 2023! enthusiastic 9 / 10
