Sherida Spitse appeared in front of the camera shortly after the final whistle with a positive feeling. “I think we can be very proud of what we have shown. 1-1 at Stamford Bridge is a great result for us,” said the Ajax Women’s captain.
Despite the difficult starting position, Spitse still had hope of a stunt in London. “In football everything is possible. We had a chance to go through, but we knew it would be very difficult. In the end we can be happy with the draw.”
The captain has enjoyed the UEFA Women’s Champions League campaign. “We already knew when the group stage was drawn that it would be tough. We have made progress and we showed that again today. It was a wonderful campaign, hopefully we can go further next year. Now the focus is on the competition .”
