Couldn’t be more dramatic than that. Tonight (Sunday) Liverpool beat Chelsea 0:1 and won the English League Cup after a dramatic goal by Virgil van Dijk, when the Dutchman gave Jurgen Klopp his first win in the coach’s last season, and for the Merseysiders this is the tenth win in the factory.

With a plague of injuries, with a staff mostly from Liverpool’s academy, with many young people even participating in the game in the end, Klopp’s team won the title, while on the other hand for the Blues it is a very bad season to say the least, who probably won’t win any title this year, with even Europe in danger for them.

The meeting itself opened at a high pace, when the one who attacked was Liverpool, but Djorja Petrovic repeatedly repelled the attempts of the Reds. The first to shake the net were the Blues, when Raheem Sterling scored in the 33rd minute against the former, but the linesman raised a flag for the difference and the goal was disallowed.

The high tempo was maintained and even continued throughout the game, Cody Gakpo hit the crossbar and Cole Palmer from the other side, when in the 60th minute Virgil van Dijk scored a goal with a shot after a tremendous header by Andrew Robertson, but the VAR intervened and the referee disallowed the goal.

The two coaches made substitutions, as mentioned Klopp brought in his youngsters and took out the experienced ones, while the one who remained on the grass was Van Dijk, the captain, the leader, and the one who decided the match in the end. It took 118 minutes, but this time no one took away the goal from the Dutchman, Konstantinos Cimix scored a corner kick and found the head of Van Dijk who hit the net.

As mentioned, this is Klopp’s last season in Liverpool, and for him it is the first title of the season, and maybe not the last. The Blues, on the other hand, didn’t get their own sweet moment, but will hope to at least try and get back to winning ways in the league, and maybe secure a place in Europe.
