Jürgen Klopp has come out as a fan of the English second division. The Liverpool FC team manager revealed that the Championship is a division that he regularly follows before the FA Cup duel with second division club Southampton FC on Wednesday evening.

Klopp said: “I love the Championship. Last week I watched Leeds against Leicester. Wow! The intensity in the Championship is absolutely insane. I also saw a West Brom game recently, there is a really good football plan behind it, Ipswich as well. This league is incredibly difficult.”

Hull City also received praise, where two Liverpool players, Fábio Carvalho and Tyler Morton, are on loan. The development of the two was “fantastic,” said Klopp.

Leicester City, Leeds United and Ipswich Town currently occupy the top three places in the Championship. 24 teams start in the league, which leads to an even more bloated schedule than the clubs in the English upper house.

Klopp said: “This league is incredibly, really demanding. We already have a lot of games in the Premier League, but there are a few more there. It’s pretty impressive how things are going there.”

On Wednesday evening the Saints come to Anfield Road in the fifth round of the FA Cup to face the newly crowned League Cup winners. Jürgen Klopp’s protégés then have to play in the league against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
