Liverpool confidently beat Benfica in the first leg of the 1/4 finals of the Champions League
In the first match of the 1/4 finals of the UEFA Champions League, Benfica hosted Liverpool. The meeting was held at the Da Luz stadium in Lisbon (Portugal) and ended with the victory of the guests with a score of 3:1.
Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate opened the scoring in the 17th minute. Merseyside player Andrew Robertson from the corner of the field performed a serve into the center of the Lisbon penalty area, after which Konate headed the ball into the goal. In the 34th minute, Liverpool striker Sadio Mane strengthened the advantage of the guests in the long run. Defender of the guests Trent Alexander-Arnold from the depths made a throw into the penalty area behind the backs of the defenders, the forward of the Merseysiders Luis Diaz caught on the offside line and, in a head fall, made a pass along the gate to Mane, who sent the ball into the near corner of the goal.
In the 49th minute, Benfica forward Darwin Nunez reduced the backlog of the hosts in the long run. Portuguese team midfielder Rafael Silva ran down the right flank and shot along the goalkeeper’s line, Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate waved the ball past the ball, allowing Nunez to shoot right into the corner of the goal. At the end of the match, Liverpool striker Luis Diaz scored the third goal of the Merseysiders.
The second leg of the teams will be held on April 13 at the Anfield stadium in Liverpool (England).
