Bayer Leverkusen defender Loïc Badé suffered a heavy collision with Hoffenheim’s Max Moerstedt during the closing minutes of Leverkusen’s 0:3 defeat against Hoffenheim. The 26-year-old center-back was left unresponsive on the pitch, requiring minutes of medical attention before being stretchered off.
The Chaos of the Closing Minutes
The incident occurred right before Hoffenheim secured their second goal of the match. Alexander Prass struck in the 89th minute, earned a yellow card for removing his shirt during the celebration, and was subsequently sent off for a second bookable offense following an earlier foul on Tillman. Andrej Kramaric had previously put the TSG ahead from the penalty spot in the 79th minute.
Following the final whistle, Bayer midfielder Robert Andrich described the dramatic scenes on the pitch to BILD. When asked if Badé was responsive, Andrich stated, “Nee, so richtig nicht.” He added that the team had to swallow hard witnessing the heavy impact.
Hoffenheim double the lead late on, but Loic is down after a collision, and is receiving treatment.
Carles Martínez Updates Defender Condition After Collision
Leverkusen manager Carles Martínez provided a clearer update to DAZN, revealing that the central defender was completely out for roughly a minute and a half and remembered nothing of the collision. The impact occurred directly against Max Moerstedt, who ultimately capped off the match with a 90th-minute-plus-six strike to seal a 3:0 victory for Hoffenheim.
Addressing BILD after the full-time whistle, Martínez offered reassurance regarding the player’s immediate condition. “Das Wichtigste ist jetzt natürlich, dass es ihm gut geht. Er unterhält sich mit uns. Er ist gerade unter der Dusche. Wenn alles normal verläuft, wird er mit uns zurückkommen und so weitermachen wie bisher,” Martínez explained.
