Lokomotiv vs. Traktor: Semi-Final Series Game 3 Recap and Highlights

2024-04-17 20:13:30

On April 6, Lokomotiv played the third match of the semi-final series in Chelyabinsk.

Compared to the previous match, the Yaroslavl team did not have a single change, but there were certain changes in the links – Tesanov acted with Shalunov and Kayumov, and Berezkin was announced with Andronov and Kiryanov.

The meeting started without any build-up: the first chance arose at the Lokomotiv goal after Yarullin’s shot, and already in the third minute after a shot by Rushan Rafikov and a rebound from Yegor Averin’s stick in front of the goal, the puck ended up in the net, 0:1. After that, the “railroad workers” carried out several more good attacks; in the seventh minute, Kayumov was close to success, after his shot the puck hit the post. Next we could note a good positional attack, during which the opponents failed to change positions, but it was not possible to get the most out of that episode. The game moved to Isaev’s goal only after the first removal as part of the “railroad workers” – the ice owners first spent a minute and a half in the zone, and at the end of their numerical advantage they created a dangerous moment when Rodwald was prevented from playing in finishing. The next notable event was another removal from the Yaroslavl team, which happened 4 seconds before the siren, and the Chelyabinsk team almost took advantage of their numerical superiority in the first period – Isaev managed to cope with Burdasov’s difficult throw. Accordingly, our team started the second segment of the game with four of us, confidently fought back, but was immediately left with four of us again. Everything again passed without serious threats to Isaev’s goal, but after that it took quite a long time to establish control over the puck. In general, both teams tried to play, first of all, reliably in defense, and the first moment when playing with equal strengths arose in the 11th minute, when Polunin made a turning pass to Averin, who threw in touch, but slightly missed on target During his next appearance on the ice, the Railwaymen’s number 29 again found himself in the spotlight, now hitting the post after Nikulin’s pass. In the same shift, the Yaroslavl team “locked” the opponent in the zone, made a quick play, and Georgy Ivanov, with an awkward hand, sent the puck into the far upper corner, 0:2. There were still more than six minutes left before the siren, and our team not only played this segment confidently, but could even score more. The third period began with Traktor’s attacks, the Yaroslavl team focused on defense and, despite the fact that the opponent had almost complete possession of the puck, in the first eight minutes there was not a single dangerous moment near Isaev’s goal. At the same time, perhaps the first meaningful attack of the “railroad workers” could have turned into a goal – Polunin’s throw to touch was just a little short. A few minutes later, Mylnikov was rescued by Traktor after Kraskovsky’s attack and an attempt to finish off Berezkin. The game moved to the Lokomotiv zone only after Ivanov was sent off in the 17th minute, the ice owners replaced the goalkeeper with a sixth field player, and in the “6 on 4” format they still scored, 1:2. There were just under three minutes left to play, the Chelyabinsk team spent most of the remaining time with six players, but, fortunately, the Yaroslavl defense held out, maintaining the winning score.

2:1 – Lokomotiv beat Traktor for the third time.
