Lost Ark launched on February 8th for pre-orders. Today, February 11th, Free2Play players can also explore the world of Arkesia. But the new players can only create their characters on certain servers for the time being. Especially the server Asta, on which many German communities gather, cannot be selected.
What’s going on there? In a forum post, the developer Sandovall announced that there will be restrictions on the choice of server.
As of February 10th at 10:45 p.m., players are already unable to create new characters on some servers. However, this only applies if you have not previously had at least one character on the server. Then you can continue to own up to 12 characters on the server.
This will be particularly annoying for players who don’t want to start Lost Ark until February 11th at 18:00. Because the game opens up for all Free2Play players. They can’t create characters on the servers.
Which servers are affected? A total of five servers from Europe can no longer be selected by new players:
The restriction is said to remain in place “for the foreseeable future”. The developers want to announce another update as soon as the restriction is lifted.
New servers should remedy the situation
Where can the new players go? In Europe there are 6 more servers that the players can spread over. In addition, another server will be opened during the night: Beatrice.
The developers also emphasized that there could be further server openings related to the Free2Play release.
However, the situation with new servers is complicated.
How bad are the queues? In the past few days it has been almost impossible to queue for server Asta after 6pm and play before 11pm. It is said to have looked similar on Zinnervale and Kadan.
However, Amazon seems to be planning something in this direction as well. They said:
While limiting character creation and opening new servers is only a small part of managing this complex situation, later today we will be providing additional information to you players about the many steps we are taking. We appreciate your patience while we work to resolve this situation.
What that means in concrete terms, we will probably see in the course of Friday.
