Low Registration Numbers: Why Only 8,500 Ukrainians in Suomi Apply for Permanent Registration?

Only 8,500 Ukrainians living in Suomi under temporary protection have applied for permanent registration in the country, local media reported on July 15, citing data from the Agency for Digital Information and Population Records.

Although registration gives the right to use municipal services and obtain a certificate, slightly more than half of the Ukrainians present in the country have applied for it. As of mid-July, 15,000 people have the right to do so.

Most of those who wanted to get registered were recorded in Helsinki – about 600 people came to the authorities with statements. One of the reasons for the small number of statements, journalists call the desire to return to Ukraine.
