Lucien Favre (64) and OGC Nice are making a real statement on the transfer market: the Ligue 1 club has signed goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel (35)!
The 84-cap Denmark cap was a fixture in the Premier League. He has played for Leicester City for eleven years and sensationally won the English championship with the ‘Foxes’ in 2016. Hardly anyone expected that Schmeichel would leave the club again. Now this is actually happening!

Favre and those responsible in Nice seem to have done a lot of convincing. A year before the end of his contract, the son of Denmark legend Peter Schmeichel (58) now dares to make the leap to the Cote d’Azur, away from England, where he was a crowd favorite in the club.
The Schmeichel transfer also has to do with the fact that Favre was unsuccessful in courting Gladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer (33). In the coming season, which starts for Nice nationally on August 7th with an away game in Toulouse, the club will play in the Conference League. Kasper Schmeichel would not have played internationally with Leicester City after a disappointing season that ultimately saw the club finish eighth in the Premier League.
