Luis de Alba reveals son was prison gang leader

Mexican comedian Luis de Alba has opened up about a devastating chapter in his family life, revealing that one of his seven children spent eight years in prison as the leader of a car theft ring before surviving a violent roadside retaliation that left him in a coma for a month with permanent cognitive impairment. The comedian confessed that this was the most difficult moment of his life, admitting he initially struggled to believe that his son could be involved in such activities.

From El Pedregal Elite to Grand Theft Auto

Long before the tragedy that altered his family forever, the son of the veteran actor behind the iconic television character ‘El Pirrurris’ operated within an exclusive circle in Mexico City’s upscale El Pedregal neighborhood. The criminal enterprise began modestly when the young man and his wealthy peers started stealing expensive tableware from elite households. The operation quickly escalated into grand theft auto, with the ring expanding their illicit activities to the coastal resort city of Acapulco.

A Failed Legal Defense Behind Bars

The situation came to a head when the mother of a general’s child reported a stolen dining set, eventually exposing the ringleader. Although the young man initially denied his participation, the circumstances ultimately confirmed his involvement. Luis de Alba attempted to intervene legally, consulting an attorney who demanded a substantial sum to handle the defense. The comedian managed to gather only a portion of the funds. When he failed to meet the total fee, the lawyer abandoned the case. The young man was subsequently convicted and sentenced to eight years behind bars. During the imprisonment, the comedian made late-night visits between four and five in the morning to see his son, who navigated a prison ecosystem populated by drug traffickers and fraudsters. Some inmates protected the young man inside the facility, and he took care to stay away when parties or substance use began so his father would not find him in those conditions during visits.

Highway Ambush and Permanent Aftermath

The danger did not end at the prison gates. Before the inmate secured his release, he crossed paths with fellow prisoners who vowed vengeance for past grievances inside the facility—a threat system known within the penitentiary as the “ley fuga.” Upon gaining his freedom, the young man traveled to Acapulco to meet his working father before heading toward Guadalajara to visit his mother.

During that solitary highway journey, an external vehicle rammed his car and forced it off the road into a steep ravine. The crash induced a month-long coma. Today, the survivor resides in a specialized rehabilitation center. The physical and neurological damage prevents him from processing thoughts cohesively, leaving him caught in a permanent state of confusion where conversation remains fragmented and disjointed.

Inside the Comedian’s Revelations

The comedian shared these family details during an interview with Jorge ‘El Burro’ Van Rankin, shedding light on a personal ordeal that spans decades of criminal enterprises, prison walls, and highway violence. During the broadcast, the comedian did not reveal the name of his son, leaving the specific identity undisclosed among his seven children as questions remain regarding the precise nature of the internal prison conflict.
