Luxembourg Confidence: Economic & Institutional Trust Compared to EU

Luxembourgers more confident than other Europeans

86% of Luxembourg residents consider the economic situation of their country “good”, compared to only 35% of citizens of all EU countries, according to the latest Eurobarometer survey published on Monday. Additionally, 89% of residents believe their household’s financial situation is good, compared to 71% of union citizens.

The European survey also tests respondents’ trust in institutions. 58% of Luxembourg residents (7 points less than last spring) trust the European Union, compared to 47% of EU citizens. In addition, 64% of residents trust the Chamber of Deputies, and 72% the government (the survey was carried out between the elections and the arrival of the new government). At European level, only 36% of citizens trust their government.

Asked regarding the biggest problems facing Luxembourg, 53% of residents cited housing (10% in the EU as a whole), ahead of the rising cost of living, 48% (44% in the EU as a whole). EU), far ahead of climate change (17% in Luxembourg, 13% in the EU).
