macOS Sonoma: second public beta and new beta 4 for developers

Two weeks after the first public release and about a week after the fourth developer iteration, Apple just released the second public beta of macOS 14, which goes by the name of Sonoma.

New beta 4 for developers

Hopefully the folks working on the next OS have fixed the bugs that plagued the fourth beta, as there were a lot of issues with the latter. Indeed, testers have found themselves with a black screen, which leads us to remind you of one thing: you should not install a beta version on a computer that is important to you. It is also surely for this reason that Apple is also delivering a second beta 4 for developers (build 23A5301h) this evening.

Big bugs on some Macs after installing Sonoma beta 4

As a reminder, macOS Sonoma still supports Intel Macs, but they require an Apple T2 chip, except in one specific case. Similarly, the arrival of macOS Sonoma visibly marks the beginning of the end for the HFS+ file system: it is no longer possible to install the OS on a disk formatted in this way and APFS becomes visibly mandatory.
