A post on Apple’s support forum describes a user’s experience experiencing the issue. He said that after upgrading his MacBook Pro to Ventura, he can no longer connect it to his iMac, which is still on macOS Monterey 12, or his iPhone 12. Even if the system shows that sharing is on, it is not possible access Mac files.
The user, however, said that he is still able to connect the iPhone to the iMac through SMB sharing. Since the computer is on an older version of the system, this is an indication that the problem is in macOS Ventura 13, which is running on the MacBook Pro, which has the problem.
Several other users are reporting experiencing similar issues with not being able to access files from Macs running the latest version of the system. THE AppleInsider stated that there are users affected by the bug, but others are able to connect Macs even in Ventura.
The “solution” found by users was turning file sharing off and on, restarting the Mac between one step and another, in some cases. Doing so, the resource worked again for some people, although it stopped working some time later.
Apple has not yet taken a position on the problem, which appears to last a few months – given that the first related topics were created on the support forum in November 2022. This also shows that several versions of macOS Ventura 13 have presented the bug.
