There has been a fire in the Bad Hersfeld industrial area since around 2:30 a.m. The building complex that is affected is in which there is an electrical specialist store, a tool shop and a furniture store.
There is a lot of smoke. The fire brigade of the city and the surrounding communities are currently still busy extinguishing the fire. District fire inspector Marco Kauffunger said opposite EAST HESSEN|NEWSthat the furniture market is on fire. The fire department is trying to protect the other buildings from the spread. Turntable ladders from Bad Hersfeld, Rotenburg and Hünfeld as well as the aerial rescue platform from the K+S factory fire department are on site. In addition to the city hydrants, water also comes from the Geis. Around 200 forces and the drone squadron are deployed.
A service group from the Bebra fire department is currently manning the station in Bad Hersfeld for other emergencies in the district town. The follow-up work will also continue on Sunday. There were no injuries. The building is in danger of collapsing and, according to initial estimates, the resulting damage is likely to be in the millions.
According to “Hessenwarn”, the release of fire gases can cause odor and visibility problems throughout the city and beyond. “Please close windows and doors. Turn off ventilation and air conditioning systems,” said Hessenwarn. “Motorists are asked to avoid the area as much as possible.”
It will now be determined why the fire broke out.
