Firefighters from Chimay and Beaumont were mobilized in large numbers during the night from Saturday to Sunday for a major fire in the Sivry-Rance area.
It was around 1 a.m. on Sunday that the alert was given to the Hainaut-Est emergency zone that several vehicles were engulfed in flames on rue Chastelain in Sivry. Firefighters converged on the scene with an elevator, a pumper and a tanker. When they arrived on scene, they found that six cars were on fire.

Firefighters worked to put out the blaze and thus prevent it from spreading to other vehicles parked nearby. No injuries were reported but the damage was significant.
As for the origin of the fire, it remains undetermined for the moment, a team from the Botha police zone was on site to make initial findings.
