Make sure to keep the promises made in the June 1 local elections… Crowded polling places in Gyeonggi-do

From the early morning to voters aged 18 to 100… 8 am voter turnout 3.8%

On the 1st, the 8th National Simultaneous Local Election Election Day, which elects local workers, voters began to come to the Gyeonggi area polling place from early morning.

At the polling place in Suwon Veterans Welfare Town, where many people of national merit and their families live, there was a long line with about 30 voters from 6 am, when voting started.

Jeong Soon-chae, 100 years old, born in 1923, came with a cane and waited in line for about 30 minutes before voting.

Grandmother Jeong said, “I have always voted without exception because I believe that voting is a must as a citizen.”

Noh Seung-bok (85), who finished voting early in the morning, said, “There has been a lot of corruption among public officials, but I hope that the elected candidates will take good care of their affairs and do not commit any irregularities.”

18-year-old youth voters, who exercised their right to vote for the first time in their lives, were no different.

Ahn Jae-seo, a 3rd year high school student who voted with her parents in Cheolsan 3-dong, Gwangmyeong-si, said, “I couldn’t vote because my birthday passed in March, but I was very excited to be able to exercise my right to vote this time.” As a candidate who received advice from the university and is about to enter the university, I looked at the promises of the superintendent candidates with interest,” he said.

He added, “I want the elected candidates to show that they keep their promises rather than just putting their words first, as much as voters trust and vote for them.”

In the first-phase new town area, where promises to improve the living environment such as reconstruction and remodeling are fiercely contested every local election, there were many voters who did not hide their expectations for the promises of the governor candidates, such as the enactment of a related special law.

Mo Kim (68), whom we met at the polling place at the Senior Citizens’ Center in Gaya 1st apartment in Gunpo-si, said, “There is talk of reconstruction during the election season. I picked a candidate who seemed to do it,” he said.

Another resident, Choi (61), said, “The apartment is going to be 30 years old soon, and the design is poor, so three buildings share one side of the parking lot, so parking wars are serious every night. wind,” he said.
