Man arrested for usurping functions of surgeon doctor

A commission of the Coordination Against Fraud and Fraud of the Cicpc of the Maracaibo Municipal Delegation, captured Mauricio Monroy Patiño, 29, of Colombian nationality, at the Maracaibo University Hospital, 16 Guajira avenue, Juana de Ávila parish, Maracaibo del Zulia state, for usurpation of function as surgeon doctor.

The detainee contacted a woman identified as Iris Maite Espinoza Mendoza (35), who is on the run, to have her falsify an undergraduate degree as a medical surgeon, issued by the University of Boyacá, Colombia, in order to enter the master’s degree in anesthesiology at the University of Zulia.

During his arrest, an iPhone phone, 13 Pro Max, was collected as evidence; a LittmannQuality brand stethoscope; an allusive card from the Ministry of Popular Power for Education that accredited him as a resident doctor; a card allusive to the Colombian Medical College, which accredited him in the National Single Registry of Human Talent in Health (ReTHUS), as a doctor graduated from LUZ and a Colombian identification document.

The Superior Prosecutor’s Office of the Public Ministry of the Judicial District of Zulia state will be in charge of the judicial procedure.
