A 31-year-old suffered upper body injuries on Saturday in Vomperbach (Schwaz district) after jumping from a height of 20 meters into a reservoir approximately five meters deep. The man was able to escape to the edge of the reservoir on his own after diving into the six to seven degree cold water, the police said. As a result, he had to be given first aid by the alerted emergency services and rescued by rope from the helicopter.
Shortly before 12.30 p.m., the 31-year-old jumped from a ledge 20 meters high into the reservoir in Vomperloch. He was accompanied by two acquaintances, dressed in a wetsuit but not wearing a helmet. The man sustained injuries to his chest, back and vertebrae while diving. He was flown to the clinic in Innsbruck.
