A Brooklyn man has pleaded guilty to criminal charges after intentionally driving his vehicle into the global headquarters of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement, prosecutors announced.
The incident took place at the organization’s central hub in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn. According to court documents, the defendant accelerated his vehicle into the building, causing structural damage to the facility.
The guilty plea resolves charges related to the attack, which included counts of reckless endangerment and criminal mischief. Prosecutors stated that the act of ramming the vehicle into the headquarters created a significant risk of injury to those inside and around the premises.
The Chabad-Lubavitch headquarters serves as the administrative and spiritual center for the worldwide network of Jewish community centers and outreach programs. The facility is a high-traffic site for both staff and visitors within the Crown Heights community.
Following the crash, the defendant was taken into custody by the New York City Police Department. The subsequent legal proceedings focused on the intent and the danger posed by the use of a vehicle as a weapon against the institution.
The defendant is now awaiting a sentencing date to be determined by the court.
