Man sentenced to 16 years in prison for raping his daughter in motels in Punta Arenas | National

The Punta Arenas Court found a man guilty of two sexual crimes perpetrated against his daughter – who was five years old when the attacks began – and another for storing child pornography.

A man who repeatedly abused and raped his daughter in Punta Arenas was sentenced to 16 years in prisonin the Magallanes region.

The Oral Criminal Court of this city sentenced him for three sexual crimes, including storage of child pornography.

According to the facts that were confirmed after the trial, the sexual attacks began in 2008, when the girl was five years old. Her father touched her body and genital area at the home of her family group.

The victim revealed the abuse to her mother, but the sentenced person silenced any attempt to report it with threats using a firearm. “He pointed out to them that he could kill them if they said anything,” he says in the facts accredited by the sentence.

Man committed sexual assaults in motels in Punta Arenas

The sexual assaults lasted until 2017 and escalated in severity over time. Since her youngest was 10 years old, the convicted person took her from her school in the mornings to take her to motels in Punta Arenas. He also raped her inside a vehicle in peripheral sectors of the city.

During the investigation, police also discovered child pornographic material on a defendant’s computer. They found 74 videos and two photographs showing minors engaging in sexual conduct with adults.

Meanwhile, the attacks were paralyzed with the prison stays of the accused, who has convictions for crimes of domestic violence and unjustified shooting. The victim revealed the facts in 2019, when his father had been granted parole.

Man is convicted of three sexual offenses

Before sentencing him, the court analyzed almost 15 people who testified during the trial. Witnesses included the victim, members of the family group and officials from the PDI’s Sexual Crimes Investigation Brigade (Brisex). They also examined medical reports and documentary evidence offered by the Prosecutor’s Office.

Given the evidence, the court sentenced him to 10 years in prison for rape and another four years for sexual abuse, both of which were continuous and perpetrated against a minor under 14 years of age. Regarding child pornography, the judges imposed 800 days in prison.

As an accessory penalty, the man may not be heard as a relative of the victim in the cases designated by law. Once he leaves jail, every three months he will have to report his address changes for 10 years. In addition, he may not perform work involving minors.
