Harun Tulunay, a 35-year-old man from London, England, was hospitalized for weeks and shared his “terrifying” symptoms of monkeypox that made him think he was going to die. He was isolated in a hospital room in what was a period of uncertainty for him.
The man said his initial symptom was a fever, which he thought was COVID-19, prompting him to get tested. However, the result came back negative and his fever rose to 39.7 C.
He told MyLondon, a local outlet: “When my fever and pain hadn’t changed for a whole week, my friends got really worried and I called 111 for help. I called five or six times when my fever was high and told them the symptoms. what I was experiencing.”

“At the time, my fever was so high that I was passing out and mightn’t move. They asked me the same questions over and over once more, the answers were always the same. They told me ‘if you get worse call us’ and each time it got worse the next day and when I called them the answer was the same. My diagnosis was greatly delayed by this, but I don’t blame them,” she continued.
When they finally tested him for Monkeypox, it came back positive, but they said they hadn’t seen a case like his before and his symptoms weren’t what other people had.
Harun just wanted to know what was wrong with him and what measures he might take, since he didn’t want to die of a high fever. “I was waiting for the results and started to worry regarding my fever. I am completely alone in the UK, I have no one with me, ”he said.
