Before the press at the Estación del Norte itself – in the presence, among others, of the mayoress of Paris, Anne Hidalgo – Darmanin pointed out that the police forces are working to find out who the attacker is, since he did not have identity documents.

Regarding the possible motivations for his attack, after rumors circulated about the screams he allegedly gave while carrying out the attack, the minister said: “As far as I know, he hasn’t said anything.”

The Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor’s Office is not dealing with the case, at least for the moment, which gives an idea of ​​the elements available to the investigators regarding the characterization of the facts.

According to Darmanin’s account, the attack began at 06:42 local (05:42 GMT) when the man attacked several people in the station and a minute later he had already been “neutralized” by law enforcement.

Specifically, officers who were not on duty and other police officers who were on duty shot him three times, after which he was taken to a hospital.

Of the six injured, one was seriously injured, although his life is not in danger. Among them is a policeman.

The minister stressed that “without the extremely rapid intervention of the police, there would be casualties.”
