You can free up iCloud storage by deleting content you’re not using:

• delete messages and manage app Mail
• delete recording

Before you delete any data You should archive or make a copy of the information you store in iCloud.

Reduce the size of your iCloud backup.

When you back up your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to iCloud, the most important data on your device is automatically backed up. Learn more about what iCloud backs up.

Many iOS apps automatically back up to iCloud after you install them. You can reduce the size of your iCloud backup and free up iCloud space when you stop backing up app that you don’t use or delete old iCloud backups

Choose which apps to back up on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

1. Turn on iCloud for Windows
2. Click Storage.
3. Select a backup from the available list.
4. Choose one of your device’s backups. then click delete If you want to turn off backups and delete all device backups from iCloud, when you’re asked for confirmation, select Delete.

When you delete a backup Your device’s iCloud backup will also be turned off. You can turn iCloud backup back on in different iCloud settings on your device.

Delete Photos in iCloud Photos

iCloud Photos uses your iCloud storage to keep all your photos and videos up to date across all your devices. You can make more space in iCloud. When you delete photos and videos that you don’t want from the Photos app on all your devices

before deleting anything Make sure you have backed up the photos and videos you still need. When you use iCloud Photos and delete a photo or video on one device This will delete the photo or video on the other device. All devices signed in with the same Apple ID.

Follow these steps to delete photos and videos from your iCloud Photos.

iPhone, iPad and iPod touch

1. Open the Photos app. and tap the image at the bottom of the screen.
2. Tap Select and select one or more photos or videos you want to delete.
3. Tap Delete. then tap Delete Photo.

Mac

1. Open the Photos app.
2. Select the photos and videos you want to delete.
3. Press the Delete key on your keyboard, Control-click or right-click and select Delete (#) image, then click Delete to confirm.

iCloud.com

1. from your iPhone, iPad, or computer. Sign in to iCloud.com.
2. Tap Photos.
3. Select the photo or video you want to delete.
4. Tap Delete. then tap Delete.

To select multiple photos or videos To select an item, tap Select on iOS or iPadOS, or hold down the Command key on a Mac or Control on a PC when you select the item. To select all, hold down Command-A on macOS or Control-A on Windows, or tap Select All on iOS or iPadOS.

You can recover the photos and videos you deleted from the album. If you want to remove content from the Recently Deleted album faster, tap Select, then select the items you want to delete. In iOS 11 or later, files you delete from iCloud Drive remain in Recently Deleted for 30 days before they are deleted from your device.

1. Go to the Files app and tap Browse.
2. Under Location, tap iCloud Drive.
3. Tap the more button. then tap Select
4. Select the folder or file you want to delete, then tap Delete.
5. Go to Locations > Recently Deleted.
6. Tap the more button. then tap Select
7. Select the files you want to delete.
8. Tap Delete, then tap Delete to confirm.

Mac

1. Open Finder and go to the iCloud Drive folder.
2. Drag the item to the trash. or move it to another folder on your Mac.
3. Open the Trash, then right-click the file you want to delete.
4. Select Delete now, then click Delete to confirm.

Windows

On a PC running Windows 7 or later, you can manage your iCloud Drive files using Windows Explorer. Use these steps to add the iCloud Drive folder to Windows Explorer:

1. Download and install iCloud for Windows.
2. Sign in with your Apple ID.
3. Turn on iCloud Drive.
4. Go to the iCloud Drive folder.
5. Select the folder or file you want to delete.
6. Click Delete.

iCloud.com

1. from your iPad or computer. Sign in to iCloud.com.
2. Tap the iCloud Drive app.
3. Select the files you want to delete, then tap Delete.
4. Open the iCloud Drive folder and tap Recently Deleted.
5. Select the folder or file you want to delete.
6. Tap Delete.

Delete messages and attachments in the Messages app.

When you use Messages in iCloud, all text messages and attachments you send and receive use your iCloud storage. You can free up more space when you delete messages and attachments like photos, videos, and Files you don’t need anymore

To delete a message or attachment Follow these steps.

1. in text conversation Touch and hold the message bubble or attachment you want to delete.
2. Tap More
3. Tap Delete. Then tap Delete Message. If you want to delete all messages in a thread Tap Delete All in the upper left corner. Then tap Delete Conversation.

To delete multiple attachments from a contact or conversation Follow these steps.

1. in a text conversation Tap the contact’s name at the top of the screen.
2. Tap Information
3. In the Photos section, tap See all.
4. Tap Select. Tap the photo you want to delete.
5. Tap Delete, then tap Delete Attachment to confirm.

To delete all conversations Follow these steps.

1. Swipe the conversation you want to delete to the left.
2. Tap Delete.
3. Tap Delete again to confirm.

Mac

To delete a message or attachment Follow these steps.

1. open message conversation
2. Control-click the empty space in the message bubble that you want to delete.
3. select delete
4. Click Delete.

To delete multiple attachments from a contact or conversation Follow these steps.

1. open message conversation
2. click the info button
3. Scroll to the Picture section.
4. Click on an attachment and hold down the Command key to select multiple attachments.
5. Control-click or right-click and select Delete.
6. Click Delete Attachment to confirm.

To delete all conversations Follow these steps.

1. Control-click a conversation.
2. Select Delete Conversation.
3. Click Delete.

Delete messages and manage the Mail app.

You can free up iCloud space when you delete email messages from your iCloud email account. You can also move email messages from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac or PC, and they don’t count. in your iCloud storage any longer.

Use the steps below to delete messages from your account. Remember that messages with large attachments take up more space than plain text emails.

iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is set up to access iCloud email, you can delete messages from any mailbox. You can then empty the trash to free up space.

1. Swipe left on any message to delete it.
2. Go to your mailbox and select the trash folder.
3. To delete messages one by one Swipe left on each message. To delete everything, tap Edit, tap Select All, then tap Delete. Tap Delete All to confirm.

Mac or PC running Windows

If you’re using iCloud Mail with a desktop email app such as Mail on a Mac or Microsoft Outlook on a PC, use these steps.

• Mail app on your Mac: Delete messages you no longer need. Then choose Mailbox > Delete Deleted Items. Then choose your iCloud email account from the menu. Then click Delete data to confirm.
• Microsoft Outlook 2010 through Outlook 2016 (Windows): Delete messages you no longer need, Outlook permanently deletes your messages the next time you close and restart the app.

iCloud.com

1. Sign in to iCloud.com.
2. Select Mail and then the Trash folder.
3. To delete messages one by one Select the message you want to delete. and select the trash button To delete multiple messages Select the message you want to delete and select Delete.

delete recording

With Voice Memos in iCloud, your Voice Memos are stored in iCloud. You can easily delete a Voice Memo. If you need more space

iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

1. Tap Delete. then open Recently Deleted
2. Tap Edit
3. Tap Delete All, or select the recording and tap Delete.

Mac

1. Select the voice memo you want to delete.
2. Click Delete.
3. Open Recently Deleted and click Delete.
4. Click Permanently delete.
