The Ministry of Health reported that the number of COVID-19 infections in Mexico rose to 1,015,071, after confirming 3,918 cases in the last 24 hours. While the number of deaths increased to 99,528 deaths, after registering 502 new deaths.

José Luis Alomía Zegarra, Director General of Epidemiology, detailed that the proportion of people who have tested positive was located in 42% for week 45. In that sense, Mexico City is the entity with the highest number of active cases having 3,048; followed by New Lion, with 2,203; after Guanajuato, with 1,866; Y Queretaro, with 1,081 cases. Together they account for 42% of active cases in the country.

However, this week, Undersecretary Hugo López-Gatell, pointed to Aguascalientes, Durango, Querétaro and Zacatecas as the states that maintain a trajectory of rise in their infections; while CDMX, Nuevo León and Jalisco remain as “Most difficult areas of epidemic control” for being the largest metropolises in the country.

By contrast, Campeche and Chiapas They continue to maintain the least number of active infections, reporting at the last cut of figures, 37 and 33, respectively, while preserving the colors of the lower risk traffic light: green and yellow, respectively.

However, it must be remembered that the first 10 entities that accumulate the highest number of cases are Mexico City, State of Mexico, Nuevo León, Guanajuato, Sonora, Veracruz, Coahuila, Puebla, Jalisco and Tabasco, which together make up about two-thirds (62%) of all accumulated cases registered in the country.

Regarding the deaths caused by the new SARS-CoV-2 virus, Alomía indicated that between weeks 44 and 45 a slight decrease of 1%; however, the specialist pointed out that there are also two continuous weeks in which the upward trend that we had in weeks 43 and 42 has stopped, “which has meant stability in the occurrence of deaths.

Likewise, there was a decrease in the deaths of 46% from epidemiological week number 28, in which 5,338 deaths caused by the virus were confirmed.

It is worth mentioning that until yesterday, they had 15,394 suspected deaths from COVID-19 which include the slopes by laboratory (n = 2,676) and those that are in the process of association between clinical and epidemiological judgment (n = 12,718) in SISVER.

In this context, the Mexico City, the State of Mexico, Veracruz, Puebla, Jalisco, Nuevo León, Baja California, Sinaloa, Guanajuato and Sonora as the 10 entities that have registered the highest number of deaths and that together represent more than half (62%) of all those in the country.

Regarding hospital availability to care for people with COVID-19, the 37% of general beds are occupied throughout the country, while beds with mechanical ventilators for more critical patients, the occupancy is 28% at the national level.

Until yesterday, Durango, Coahuila, Chihuahua, Nuevo Leon, Zacatecas and Mexico City exceeded 60% occupancy of general spaces; while for beds with a fan, Aguascalientes, Mexico City and Nuevo León exceeded 50% occupancy.
