Austria’s record holder Peter Herzog will make his comeback over the classic 42.195 km distance at the Vienna City Marathon (VCM). The Tokyo 2021 Olympian wants to get back on track on April 21 following a mixed past year with injuries and illnesses.

Herzog, whose best time is 2:10:06 hours, is not aiming for the direct Olympic limit for Paris (2:08:10). “If I get through with 2:13, 2:15 and am healthy, then everything will be wonderful,” said the 36-year-old from Salzburg.

Julia Mayer, Austria’s fastest marathon runner (ÖLV record 2:26:43), will also be at the start in Vienna.
